Meet Zahana.
Zahana has been connected to YEI since Summer 2023, when she participated in YEI’s DOES SYIP entrepreneurship program and began developing her business skills.
Since then, she has participated in MBSYEP each summer, strengthening ButtersWithZee through product development, vending, customer feedback, and hands-on business support.
Zahana attends YEI’s Bard Smart Hustle program and uses the BizBeauty lab to make self-care products, build inventory, and continue growing ButtersWithZee into a stronger market-ready brand.
She is very active in pop-ups, Made By Youth Markets, and community vending opportunities, where she has consistently sold out and demonstrated strong customer demand for her products.
As a YEI alumni, Zahana plans to enter the firefighter cadet program and dedicate her time to helping people in her community.

Summer 2023
Zahana joined YEI through the DOES SYIP entrepreneurship program and began building her foundation as a young entrepreneur.
BizBeauty Lab
She used YEI’s BizBeauty lab to make self-care products, test ideas, build inventory, and strengthen ButtersWithZee.
KidBizCON + Markets
Zahana pitched at KidBizCON in Summer 2025 and has stayed active in pop-ups, Made By Youth Markets, and vending events.
Continuing Business
Today, ButtersWithZee is one of YEI’s summer MBSYEP continuing businesses with strong market activity and customer demand.
Smart Hustle Abroad
Expanding her vision beyond DC.
Zahana was one of three high school students selected for YEI’s inaugural Smart Hustle Abroad program. Through that experience, she participated in a global service project, marketed her business in multiple states, joined college tours, and explored potential locations to expand and network for her business.
Her experience shows how youth entrepreneurship can open doors to travel, service, college exposure, market research, networking, and bigger dreams for business growth.
Consistently Selling Out
Zahana has become one of YEI’s active Made By Youth Market vendors, consistently selling out at pop-ups and building strong customer interest in her self-care products.

Through Smart Hustle, BizBeauty, MBSYEP, KidBizCON, and pop-up vending, Zahana continues strengthening her products, brand identity, customer experience, and long-term business model.
