Brand Story
What started as a creative passion is growing into a youth-owned gift brand.
Laila started her business in 2025 as part of YEI’s inaugural middle school Smart Hustle Jr. weekend program at the Made By Youth Studio. She first launched as Beads by Laila, a handmade jewelry business focused on colorful bracelets and custom designs.
During the school year, Laila expanded her brand into Tumblers by Laila, creating personalized tumblers for everyday use, gifts, special occasions, and customers who want something made just for them.
Laila participated in her first pop-up shop this school year and has since vended at several events. She is continuing to build inventory so she can sell more consistently at pop-ups while also taking custom orders.
Laila is also one of three middle school students selected for YEI’s inaugural Smart Hustle Abroad program. Through that experience, she had the opportunity to participate in a global service project, market her business in multiple states, take part in college tours, and explore potential locations where she could expand, network, and grow her business.

Smart Hustle Abroad

Laila was selected as one of three middle school students for YEI’s inaugural Smart Hustle Abroad program. Through the experience, she had the opportunity to participate in a global service project, market her business in multiple states, and expand her view of what entrepreneurship can become.
She also participated in college tours and explored potential locations where she could network, build relationships, and think about future opportunities to expand her business.

Laila is focused on growing enough inventory to participate in pop-up shops more consistently while continuing to offer personalized customer orders.
Her next steps include strengthening her product display, refining pricing, building a customer order process, taking better product photos, preparing for more youth marketplace opportunities, and continuing to grow through summer MBSYEP.
